 Bio

Rony Armas

I have been a photographer for eight years and have worked professionally for the last six years. Photography has always been a passion of mine and my artistic career started after I took classes on how to use a camera.  I initially started out as a black and white documentary style photographer covering events such as the Glendale fires, Olympic torch relay, 9/11 reactions and Los Angeles solidarity and the Democratic National Convention protests at Staple center.  LAPLA hired me to shoot various events where I met many people who convinced me to show my photos.  I exhibited on local street corners, in galleries and at arts festivals with other local artists where I met more people and began to explore the commercial aspect of the art of photography.

Later I went into studio photography shooting several commercial, fashion and music projects. Through the wonderful people I met along the way, I joined forces with Constellation Salon Studios in North Hollywood.  I became creative director, coordinating staff, talent and supervised all projects from concept to final printing for such clients as Maurice Lacroix time pieces and internationally renowned Timba Percussion.

I began to hone certain skills such as strobe, flash, hot lights and ambient light as well as 35mm, 120 and digital photography. I also have extensive experience in black and white darkroom printing and graphic design and layout experience with Photoshop, Quark, Illustrator and Freehand.

I decided to take my experiences to the next level and joined forces with another artist to form Lunaset Studios & Design, Lunaset Productions– a full-service creative studio that specializes in high-end photography, advertising design, graphic illustration and packaging.

Lunaset believes that advertising design is a complex relationship between various disciplines working together to communicate a message or idea to a specific audience in society. It incorporates principles of psychology, marketing, product placement, color theory and space. It is important to consider popular culture, history and the human experience when communicating with the intended demographic. Proper execution of advertising design and marketing combined with a quality product and exceptional customer service will lead to successful branding and thus long term, loyal customers.

Raised in North Hollywood, I am also active in the development and promotion of the NoHo Arts District as a full-fledged arts community.  I believe that NoHo is a special place where all artists, whether visual or performing, have the opportunity to demonstrate their talents.  I am a firm believer that one must take an active role in their community.  I have volunteered at the following local organizations and companies:

  • Toluca Lake Elementary School - yearbook and special events

  • Universal City/North Hollywood Chamber of Commerce- city events, galas and projects

  • Project at Los Angeles Boys and Girls Club- “From Where I’m Standing” by Gail Brown

  • NoHo Tours – international tour operators media event
