Rene Rodriguez has always had an interest in art. In his early years he had his own comic strip characters and spent many hours refining them. Once, while having Chinese food in 1984, his fortune cookie read “Art is your fate, don’t debate,” which naturally freaked him out.
In spite of that, Rene spent many years not engaged in his art but within the last few years began painting again, this time … watercolors. It was during this time that he decided that the fortune cookie might have actually been right and he began to study with local artists, Jay Ewing and extensively with Judi Marsh.
Rene is a member of the Monrovia Art Festival Association and San Gabriel Fine Arts Association. One of his paintings, “Monkeypox IV” was awarded third place in the SGFAA annual juried art show in 2003 (Watercolor Still Life).
He lives in Glendora, California with his wife, Kathy, and their two children, Sarah and Christopher. He can be reached via e-mail at: rene@renerodriguezart.com
