Lets face it, from time to
time it gets challenging to stay committed
to good health and fitness for your body and
mind. We hit plateaus, and start getting
bored with our routines. But, there are
creative ways to stay motivated and excited
about your fitness, because we all want the
end results: a fit, healthy, and happy body.
Here are some unique ways to make fitness
exciting:
-
Reward yourself each
month for # of days you Exercised and
Food Management Best Practices. Set
a goal for the month of how many days
you would like to workout to achieve
where you want to be health-fitness
wise. Do the same thing for daily
calories or portions. By tracking and
logging your food intake you’ll become
more aware of what you’re doing right
and what can be changed or tweaked to
bring on success. Many websites now
offer free calorie counter tracking
pages for your food. Check out
www.caloriecontrol.org and
www.fitday.com. As T. Harv Eker says;
“What you focus on expands”. By
rewarding yourself you’re conditioning
that part of your brain that says it’s
ok to work hard and be determined
because the pleasure of my results is
greater than the pain that it caused to
get there.(Yes-I’ve listened to the
Anthony Robbins tapes!) Maybe your
reward is a trip to your favorite spa,
or a nice bottle of wine. Or, how about
going to your favorite professional
sports teams’ home game.
-
Team up with
co-workers and have healthy eating days
or lunch and learns where you share best
practices in health. Don’t just sit
with your co-workers and gossip or talk
about what’s not right with the company
or your boss. Take action in a positive
way and find like-minded co-workers that
are interested in improving their
fitness and health. Invite a trainer in
to do a presentation at lunch (they’ll
usually do this for free for the
promotion of their business). Join a
workout class together that you do
before work or during your lunch hour.
Share easy healthy lunch recipes. Ask
your boss about wellness programs
available by the company to participate
in.
-
Hire a personal
fitness trainer that is energetic, makes
you laugh and keeps you motivated. I
don’t have to tell you how much I
believe in this one. As a Personal
Fitness Trainer and Lifestyle Fitness
Coach myself (www.getfitwithWitt.com),
I’ve helped hundreds of people reach
their fitness goals and made positive
lifestyle changes. And it’s really not
just about the trainer; it’s about the
synergy and team effort of the
client-trainer relationship that spawns
success. Check out
www.ustrainersearch.com or
www.personaltrainernetwork.com. Make
sure to take time to interview your
potential trainer. Ask for testimonials,
make sure they are certified, and ask
them for a free first workout so you can
both take each-other for a “test ride”
and make sure it’s going to be a good
fit between the both of you.
-
Get involved in
community projects like landscape
planting, street or park clean ups,
graffiti erasing. Many of your local
neighborhood councils, councilpersons,
Jaycees, Kiwanis, or Rotary Groups would
be good resources to find out about
volunteering for an outdoor activity
like this. If you are between the ages
of 18-41 contact the Universal
City/North Hollywood Jaycees at
www.ucnhjaycees.org
-
Take a Fitness
Vacation. Many cruises now offer
on-board rock climbing, ice-skating, and
aerobic classes. There are fitness
vacations camps where you have healthy
meals prepared for you and planned daily
activities to help you loose weight and
body fat and learn about health. If
you’re single, there are many singles
groups that tailor their excursions
towards health and fitness.
