Call to Artists - 2006

The following exhibit is open to artists of all mediums, including but not limited to painting, printmaking, sculpture, installation art, drawings, photography and mixed media.


  

There is a theme for each show.  For example, March is Women's History Month.  NoHo Gallery LA will feature women artists as well as male artists who focus on the female image.  You as the artist may fit the month theme or the subject matter of your pieces may fit the theme.

Submission Guidelines: 

ALL OF THE INFORMATION MUST BE SUBMITTED IN ORDER FOR THE ARTIST TO BE CONSIDERED FOR EXHIBITION.

 

1.       5-10 jpeg images – or a website link with the images you would like to show. Via postal service: please submit photos only.

2.       Work Annotation Sheet - A separate Word document with Description and Price of each piece.

3.       Artist BIO – a summary in Word of your experience, including recent exhibition experience, notable awards if applicable, description of your work and why you do what you do. The Gallery looks for marketable artists those that have am interesting story to tell.

4.       Promotion Statement – a paragraph on how you as an artist will promote the show.  Creative uses of your resources are a major component in the jurying process.

The gallery is housed in the historic Lankershim Arts Center in the heart of the NoHo Arts District.

  

ARTIST RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Once accepted, the artist is responsible for the following:

 

Set up

1.       All artwork is accepted on a consignment basis. 

2.       Artist is responsible for delivery and pick up of his/her artwork from the gallery. 

3.       Artist is required to pay a $125-150 gallery fee (depending on size and number of works)

4.       Agree to the Gallery’s 35% commission structure. (Details will be provided in Artist/Gallery Agreement).

5.       Artist must submit a 300 dpi image of work that will be used for the postcard and all promotional materials.

6.       It is strongly recommended that all artists provide prints and other smaller examples of their work for the gift shop area.

 

Promotion

1.       Send electronic/hard copy postcard to personal mailing list.

1.       (Optional) The gallery can draft a personal email blast with artist’s images and bio to artist’s personal mailing list – list must be provided to the Gallery.

2.    Willing to be interviewed by media.

3.       Put show on personal web-site.

4.       Use alternative resources to promote artist’s work and the show.

 

Reception

1.       Present at the artist reception and willing to speak to gallery patrons.

 

 

GALLERY RESPONSIBILITIES

1.       Create and print show postcard

2.       Draft and send email blast with artists’ images to 5,000+ mailing list

3.       Draft and send show news release to local media: SEE www.nohogalleryla.com/mediahits for media coverage received

4.       Publish show information on nohogalleryla.com

5.       Front page advertisement on nohoartsdistrict.com

6.       Advertising on partner websites

 

Reception

1.       Provide catering fare and beverage

 

Collateral Pieces

1.       Create Artist Bio book for reception

 

Insurance:  Artwork is insured for the retail price stated on the record of consignment minus the Gallery sales commission of 35%.

Sales:  The gallery takes a 35% commission on all sales.  Sales discounts will be agreed upon at time of contract signing.

This is an invitation to all of those creative minds out there that see the world as an artistic palette, awaiting the next ingenious stroke from their imaginative brush. We have created a process to place photographic imaging and graphics permanently into any concrete surface. Using this possibility for a long-term method of visual conveyance, we invite you to participate by submitting your ideas of the limitless possibilities.

 

We are seeking a real-world design that exhibits the most well-conveyed, extensive and inventive display of originality and creativity in the application of photo-engraved concrete. Submitted designs can be real or fictional. Designs are not limited to any specific category or application.  Designs must be clear and concise.

 

WHAT TO ENTER:

Your entry should explain how your design is innovative and how the proposed concept can be practically applied.  It should show originality in thought and execution.  

 

WHAT YOUR ENTRY MUST CONTAIN:

1. A Short, 50-word Executive Summary description of your design (in English), This description should not contain any information that you or your company considers proprietary.

2. A general, 500-word (minimum) description of your design (in English) that is suitable for publishing if you win.  Intaglio Composites has the right to publish this information if you win.

3. Your submission MUST include artistic imagery showing your concept. These renderings may consist of any combination of drawing styles from vector to raster and or a scanned rendering of the final work. Any original or hand rendered drawings must be a minimum size of 8.5” x 11”(no original art will be returned). Electronic reproductions of your artwork MUST be 300 dpi or greater. All computer rendered entries must be in a computer readable format (JPG,BMP,TIFF)

4. Entries can be sent via any available ground service or Electronic Mail. 

 

PRIZES:  One first-prize winner, one second-prize winner and one third-prize winner will be selected.  All entrants and selected winners must comply with all terms and conditions set forth in these Official Rules, and winning are contingent upon fulfilling all such requirements.

1.    1st prize winner will choose between a cash prize of $10,000 or $50,000 worth of photo-engraved concrete.

2.    2nd place prize is $10,000.00 worth of photoengraved concrete

3.    3rd prize winners will receive $5,000.00 worth of photo-engraved concrete.
