Theatres are Busy and a Buzz !!!

NoHo Theatre & Arts Festival Team
The NoHo Theatre
community is offering over 70 performances to choose from with guest
companies and guest performers from the greater Los Angeles area
participating in the 2005 NoHo Theatre and Arts Festival. The newly
constructed Onyx Outdoor Stage will also be in full swing with ongoing
live entertainment during festival hours.

The local NoHo Theatres
hosting the event on their stages are: Actors Forum Theatre, Actors
Workout Studio, Avery Schreiber Theatre, Lonny Chapman Group Repertory
Theatre, NewPlace Theatre Center, NoHo Arts Center, Raven Playhouse, The
Road Theatre Company, Secret Rose Theatre, Theatre Tribe, Theatre
Unlimited (T.U. Studios), and Zombie Joe’s Underground.
Resident and guest
companies scheduled to perform at the 2005 NoHo Theatre & Arts Festival
include: Actors Workout Studio, Andak Stage Company, Antaeus Theatre
Company, The Bubalaires, Blue Sphere Alliance, Dirty Lady, Eclectic
Company Theatre, The Hollywood Players, Interact Theatre Company, Joy
Theatre, Knightsbridge Theatre Company, Lonny Chapman Group Repertory,
Open at the Top, Open Fist, Pacific Resident Theatre, The Road Theatre
Company, The Sarah Fulton Group, Secret Rose Theatre, some assembly
required, Theatre Revealed, TheatrExpresso, Theatre Tribe, TMR, Total
Improv for Kids, Write Act Repertory Company, and Zombie Joe’s
Underground.
Individual guest
artists include: Eugene Butler writer/director presents two original
one acts; top slight of hand John Carney performs card magic and more;
Jovial Kemp explores his love/hate relationship with NYC in an excerpt
from his one man show A NEW YAWK LIFE; Jonelle Allen (Dr. Quinn Medicine
Woman) sings from the World Premiere musical IN SEARCH OF A BLACKBIRD
about Florence Mills, first great black star of the 20th
century; Wendy Gough brings her critically acclaimed play about a prima
donna commedia actress who is suddenly forced into telling her life
story in THE DIVINE MADNESS OF ISABELLA; CeCe Antoinette struts her
stuff in WATERMELON - - GIT IT WHILE IT’S HOT; in GHOSTLANDS OF AN URBAN
INDIAN native American actor and master story teller Robert Greygrass
shares a myriad of characters; Hunter Leigh Hughes explores the hidden
calling of gay sexuality using sights, stories, and sounds from the
butterfly migration, Warren G. Hall presents his solo portrait of
Charles Manson, Marty McGuire (A NIGHT TO REMEMBER) guests with the
Sarah Fulton Group; and EP McKnight, who has toured the country with her
solo play I QUESTION AMERICA, re-creates the life of Fannie Lou Hammer,
the keynote speaker at the 1964 Democratic Convention.
The new Outdoor Stage
produced by Zombie Joe/Zombie Joe’s Underground Theatre and James
Mellon/NoHo Arts Center will offer ongoing performances throughout the
day from
11:00 a.m. until
6:30 p.m.
This year the theatre
booths with free tickets and play information can be found in Theatre
Square on Lankershim, just south of Magnolia, between Magnolia and
Hartsook. The free tickets to the free daytime theatre performances are
available at the individual theatre booths.
Free Shuttle Bus
Service will be available one half hour before curtain at Magnolia and
Kling for all outlying theatres that are not in easy walking distance
from Theatre Square. Patrons can hitch a ride on a free shuttle bus for
performances at Lonny Chapman Group Repertory Theatre, Actors Forum
Theatre, NewPlace Theatre Center, Theatre Unlimited and Actors Workout
Studio.
