| NoHo’s Annual Health Check-Up. |

Just like we
as humans go in for periodic health
check-ups with our Doctor, we should hold
NoHo accountable for a health check-up in
terms of community, business, and the arts.
So allow me to be the
“Community
Doctor”
for a day and access NoHo’s
health. Healthy.
The BID
(Business Improvement District). The
NoHo BID officially unveiled itself on Nov
26th at the opening of its office
at 5026 Lankershim Blvd. its programs are
aimed to strengthen and improve the business
and residential district on things like
security and image. Have you seen the men
and women wearing bright yellow shirts
riding bikes and cleaning streets along
Lankershim and Magnolia lately? They are the
new Safety Ambassadors and Clean Team for
the NoHo BID. They clean graffiti, act as
the eyes and ears of the Police Department,
and help maintain the integrity of the NoHo
Arts District.
Making a Full Recovery:
Bank Heist.
An electrical fire damaged the roof and the
upstairs of this NoHo landmark building in
early January. However, after speaking with
the Managing Partner, Kat Johnson, he said
the damage wasn ’t
as bad as it looks and they are working
around the clock to get the restaurant/night
club back up and running by February!
Healthy:
Community Outreach in
NoHo. Another successful Operation:
Santa event this past Christmas as the
Universal City/North Hollywood Jaycees (www.ucnhjaycees.blogspot.com)
delivered toys and cheer to 500 needy kids
in the area on Christmas Eve (www.opsanta.blogspot.com)
.All the civic and community groups came
together to help for this one including the
UCNH Chamber of Commerce, North Hollywood
Rotary, North Hollywood Kiwanis, and the
North Hollywood High School Key Club.
No Vital Signs.
NoHo 14.
The only High Rise Condo in the East Valley
is here in NoHo. It ’s
website and banners all say opening and
selling Fall of 2007. Unfortunately,
that never happened. No updates or further
information seems to be listed on their
website
www.noho14.com There was some
speculation that they were deciding to rent
them instead of sell, but nothing points to
that on their website.
Healthy:
Fitness Centers and Gyms
in NoHo. We seem to be becoming
the epicenter of fitness in Los Angeles all
of the sudden with BodyImage Gym, The new
World Fitness, North Hollywood Gym, My Gym,
Bally ’s,
LA Fitness, and hosts of Pilates, Yoga,
Kickboxing, and Extreme Martial Arts classes
available including the
NoHo Fit Camp
It looks like NoHo ’s
health is optimal and getting better and
better. 2008 should be another giant leap
forward type of year for NoHo, which has
more live theatres than Times Square now!
