| Dancing with the NoHo Stars |

I want my MTV! You can see lots of scenes
in and around the NoHo Arts District on the
new MTV show “Dancelife,” produced by
Jennifer Lopez. The series is about the real
world of dancers struggling to make it in
showbiz. Much of it is filmed at Millennium
Dance Studio and features six young
20-somethings as they give their all to
achieve their dreams in an intensely
competitive profession where one good
audition can launch a career and a bad
attitude can finish one.
A dance of a different sort is going on
surrounding the future of the NoHo Theater
and Arts Festival. There are currently no
dates set for summer of 2007 as the
festival, which was originally designed to
highlight theater and art in NoHo but
eventually turned into a street carnival, is
being reformatted to highlight and showcase
our local theaters and artists.
Plenty of dancing will be going on at the
Universal City/North Hollywood Chamber of
Commerce and the Jaycees (Junior Chamber)
joint Annual Gala and Installation Dinner on
Friday, March 16 at Le Foyer in North
Hollywood. This year features local NoHo
theater performers and various artists along
with a live DJ and Karaoke. Proceeds from
the Silent Auction Extravaganza help the
Jaycees fund such projects as “Operation:
Santa” and “Childspree” which assist local
underprivileged children. Tickets and

And, dancing to the beat of their own drum,
many marijuana shops have been popping up
around our part of the valley. Concerns are
rising now as the San Fernando Valley is
being dubbed the “Wild Wild West of Medical
Marijuana.” In California, the law is pretty
much mum on medical marijuana, while it is
illegal at the national level. California
pot-friendly doctors simply print out
prescriptions or “recommendations” for
patients with ailments and a subsequent need
for medical marijuana at about $150 per
office visit. It’s not actually covered by
insurance, but the physicians offer 100%
refund if the patient is not approved. The
patients then take the recommendation to a
marijuana shop or “dispensary” and choose
from candy bars, ice cream, sodas etc. made
from marijuana. Many marijuana entrepreneurs
are even franchising out and starting supply
side growing houses in this unconventional
booming industry.
