This is a column to provide
answers to frequently asked questions about
the North Hollywood activities of the
Community Redevelopment Agency of the City
of Los Angeles (CRA/LA). Additional
information on our activities can be found
on the CRA/LA web site at
http://www.crala.org [CRA/LA
Project Areas > North Hollywood]. The North
Hollywood team updates the information on
our pages regularly. There is also a
quarterly report published in hard copy that
may be downloaded from the web, obtained at
our office or sent via US Mail.
What is the status of the North Hollywood
Arts Retention Program?
The Arts Retention Program is designed to
assist North Hollywood-based arts and
cultural organizations to remain in North
Hollywood, and bring arts and cultural
organizations back to the area that were
dislocated by unsustainable increases in
rent.
A Request for Qualifications was issued,
responses to which were due July 9, 2007.
Sixteen responses were received and
evaluated. Decision letters were faxed and
mailed to respondents on October 8, 2007.
The top scoring respondents are as follows:
1. The Antaeus Company
2. NoHo Communications Group
3. Deaf West Theatre
4. The Road Theatre Company
5. Interact Theatre Company
On November 1, 2007, the entities listed
above were approved by the CRA/LA Board of
Commissioners for inclusion on a
pre-qualified list that will be valid for
three years. Inclusion on the pre-qualified
list is not a guarantee of financial
assistance. The matter now goes before City
Council committee and then the full City
Council.
