Dance Camera West Announces The Inaugural
"Choreography Media Honors" Event Honoring
Choreography for the Camera At the Directors
Guild of America Thursday, June 7, 2007
LOS ANGELES, CA – Dance Camera West
is pleased to announce the honorees for the
inaugural “Choreography Media Honors”
(CMH) to be held at the Directors Guild of
America in Hollywood on Thursday, June 7,
2007. This new event was created to honor
the choreographers responsible for some of
the most exciting choreography for the
camera from around the world. The honoree’s
selected work will be screened for all to
see in a 90-minute presentation. The
evening kicks-off at 7:30pm and winds down
around 9:30pm with a dessert reception. The
Directors Guild of America (DGA) is located
at 7920 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, CA
90046. Tickets are $50. To reserve seats
please call 213-480-8633 or visit
www.dancecamerawest.org.
The brilliant choreographers behind the
scenes are usually less known to the masses
than the director, the producers or even the
writers. This special evening, the only
event in the US to shine a light on
choreographers who create work for
broadcast, is the one and only opportunity
to see the work deemed “the best” and meet
many of the honorees in person.
The work included in this 90-minute
presentation represents some of the best
choreography from film, television,
commercials and music videos from a
two-and-a-half year period (June 1, 2004 –
December 31, 2006). This event picks up
where the ACA (“American Choreography
Awards”) left off - an annual awards
ceremony now on hiatus.
Since each of the selections screened at
this special event were created over a
two-year + period there are more
choreographers being honored than one would
expect. The honored work represents:
- 12 Feature Films
- 13 Television Specials or Variety
Shows
- 6 Short Films
- 14 Commercials
- 4 TV Shows - Episodic
- 8 Music Videos
