Columbus Day is a controversial holiday. Yes we know. How many people in North Hollywood actually get the day off? We here at NoHo Arts District. Com ask our selves why do we celebrate Columbus Day and not Amerigo Vespucci Day, the dude we were named after?
It's the start of the school year and already a suspicious white van circled around a North Hollywood-area elementary school. The driver attempted to lure a young child in the vehicle, saying the child's mother sent him to pick him up from school.
The mother had previously spoken to her son about getting into a stranger's vehicle. If anyone other than mom was going to pick him up, that person would have to know the secret "code word."
No one ever thinks it could happen to them or their child. No doubt this five minute conversation prevented someone from being victimized today. If you have a young son or daughter, take five minutes out and make sure they have there own "code word" before ever going with a stranger. Its only a matter of time before the driver of the white van returns. Who knows what vehicle he will be driving next time.

Well North Hollywood, Thursday, September 29 is both Confucious Day and National Coffee Day. So obviously we are going there:
According to nationalcoffeeday.net, “There are 111 million of coffee drinkers around the world consuming more than 440 billion Cups of Joe every year. And the numbers keep rising.”
How are you going to celebrate National Coffee Day? Some chains like Dunkin’ Donuts, 7-11 and Krispy Kreme’s are doing freebies. Starbucks? Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf?
According to the mainstreet.com article on the The Most Coffee-Dependent Jobs in America, here’s the Top 10 List:
1. Scientist/Lab Technician
2. Marketing/Public Relations Professional
3. Education Administrator
4. Editor/Writer
5. Healthcare Administrator
6. Physician
7. Food Preparer
8. Professor
9. Social Worker
10. Financial Professional

Two Officers and a supervisor responded to a radio call to handle a "death investigation". It was an apparent natural death with no signs of any wrong doing but as officers, we still assist with the family notification and anything else that may be needed.
