“The Tortoise & The Hair Make A Holiday Wish”

You’ll Laugh With The Hare & Root For The Tortoise! Great Fun For Kids!

Fun, fun, fun! Music, dance, color and flare is exactly what the play “The Tortoise & The Hair Make A Holiday Wish,” is all about at North Hollywood's Limecat Family Theatre. This is an original stage play written by Denise Devin and theatre owner himself, Zombie Joe.

With music and lyrics by Christopher Reiner, Zombie Joes Underground Theatre and Limecat Family Theatre in North Hollywood has something the young ones in your family can really enjoy as well as the big kid in all of us! This is a nice twist on an old tale that even allows for audience participation for the little ones! You know the story, now everyone can musically learn the important lesson with this holiday theme.

I must say, with high energy, sharp witty ‘hopping’ accuracy and boundless enthusiasm, Sebastian Munoz plays Harry Hare with amazing charm and humor. Sebastian sings, dances and frolics around every character and does it with great humor. I admired Sebastian’s energetic and vocal range with such a hyperactive character like the Hare! It’s a real treat to follow him around this imaginary world.

Just as energetic (but slower in execution) and with soft-silky voice, Caroline Montes, beautifully sings and dances her way through the woods trying to win the race as only Teri Tortoise can.  Caroline really played the sincerity and honesty of this determined and focused Tortoise with such conviction that I thought she really was the Tortoise! And boy she can sing!

Heldine Aquiluz does an impressive ballet and innocence in her portrayal of the Snowflake as well as her Sheila Sheep. Heldine was spot on character and has an amazing voice too. Fast speaking reporter of the hour Felicia Fox was played with great hyper-diction by Heather Lehigh as well as her doubling as Matzah One and the songstress Polly Wildflower with the most melodic and hypnotizing voice.

Fun and talented were Redetha Deason playing Sally Sqirrel, Bah and the hysterical Mistletoe and David Wyn Harris playing the cute Barry Bear, Matzah Two and the equally hysterical Menorrah, yes a singing Menorrah! Go figure! (Yes this play touches a few religious ‘areas’ for this holiday romp.)

Gopher Dan and Humbug give you a cheery ride as played by Janet Cha and she helps guide the characters in the ’right’ direction. Linda Fitak plays Princess Catnip who gives this old story a new twist that ends up being very heartwarming for the kids and every character involved.

So if you’re ready to run alongside a Hare and a Tortoise though the winding woods, rolling hills, stinky swamps and end up at a Magic Castle, then head over to Zombie Joes Underground Theatre for a truly family fun adventure filled with music, laughs and wild characters for the very young (and their parents too). This a real holiday treat for the whole family! Check them out at www.ZombieJoes.com or www.Limecat.org
