The Advent Theatre began in 1981, when several members of the original New York cast of the landmark 1971 production of GODSPELL had found themselves a church home here at First Christian Church of North Hollywood. Inspired by Senior Pastor Robert Bock, they proposed to present a reunion production to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of GODSPELL.

The plan was to have a six week run. But word got out and people kept coming to see the show…it was extended for six months! It became a Los Angeles phenomenon. Former cast members from the myriad companies that toured the world with the original play came to reconnect with the palpable, contagious spirit of the story.

The Advent Theatre is dedicated to the community in which it serves. Outreach through the arts has proven to be a viable means of touching lives. By offering plays and musical entertainment with an intention to raise social consciousness and community awareness, we hope to reach, teach and uplift the human spirit.
